Welcome to the website of the Plastic Free Bookham project. We aim to reduce single-use plastic in our community and gain the Plastic Free Community accreditation awarded by Surfers Against Sewage.
The project began in late 2019. You can view the slides from the presentation here. The next two years were challenging times in which to progress a plastics-reduction project, but we've been making steady progress on our objectives. We've now achieved four out of five and as at January 2025 the project overall is over 85% complete. Our remaining objective is to have six approved Business Champions, of which we currently have two.
